New commission piece

A couple who bought the “Hats off to the Colonies” hat- and coatstand loved it so much they asked Leon Muller (www.artthirst.com) to request me to make them something as a gift for a friend. I had a whole three days, so it was very tight, but here’s the result (which they all loved).

Provenance: a piece of eucalyptus from a forest fire, a plough disk, a gnarled metal patio chair…which all became “La Cage au Feu”, a functional art hatstand, 1800mm high and heavy. Finished in waterbased glaze and handwaxed with ProNature Wax Balm.
